Social Media Manager - Freelance

How it works

This is project-based contract work. You'll start on a project or client account so we can make sure we're a great fit for each other – if it's working well, more opportunities will follow as we expand. We match contractors to projects based on their strengths and experience.

What you'll be doing

Depending on your strengths and the projects you're matched to, work may include:

  • Developing and executing social media strategies

  • Creating compelling content: Writing captions, designing graphics, shooting and editing short-form video

  • Managing platforms (Meta, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest), scheduling and community engagement

  • Planning and implementing ads across platforms

  • Supporting or leading client communication and relationships

  • Analysing performance and delivering actionable insights

  • Email campaign planning and creation

  • Influencer outreach and campaign management

We're looking for contractors who can hit the ground running across most of these areas – though we understand everyone has different strengths, and we're open to matching you to work that plays to yours.

What we're looking for

We're building a roster across mid and senior levels:

Mid-level contractors bring 2+ years' experience in social media or digital marketing, a strong portfolio, and the ability to execute confidently across content, platforms, and reporting.

Senior-level contractors bring 5+ years' experience with proven strategic leadership – they'll lead complex accounts, develop comprehensive strategies, and opportunities to mentor others within the team.

Across both levels, we're looking for strong organisational skills, expertise in Meta Business Suite, Canva, Ads Manager and scheduling platforms, and a proactive, efficient marketing mindset.

The details

  • Rate: $45–$65/hr depending on experience ($70-$95/hr for senior-level contractors)

  • Hours: Project-based, no guaranteed hours – but up to 30 hours per week available across our roster

  • Location: Auckland-based is advantageous, particularly for client-facing work and content shoots
